A pixelated heart rotates in Blender 3D. The word "DUNGEON" is overlaid on the video.
DUNGEON is a gallery located in downtown Portland, OR.
It was conceived and materialized by Madison Hames in response to the limitations of traditional gallery spaces. It serves those that have been overlooked and those who like to hide.
As a thing, DUNGEON engages the following questions:
1. How can the gallery space problematize and refigure the traditional gallery:artist relation?
2. How can the gallery maintain the integrity of the artist's vision? In what capacity is it useful to challenge, collaborate, and question one another?
3. How can galleries act as harbingers of a future where artists are valued, uplifted, and supported with both psychic and material resources?
4. How does the gallery act as a beacon for community and what sort of connections can be sown there?
DUNGEON shamelessly trips over its own feet while asking these questions, recognizing its own role in it all.
Yet we press on, seeking a splintering point of rest in our shared journey.
